Did elphaba from wicked ever truly become wicked?

i saw the musical and she saved fejiro and boq by turning them into the scarecrow and tin man and she gave her sister the abilty to walk so why did her sister become wicked and the cub she saved why did the lion cub become a coward, why didnt she let him fight his own battles and why did she make the mutant monkeys?
