Buddy, looks like there is lot of confusion here. I mean, have you openly talked to this guy? When you say something like "need permission", it means you are exercising a certain "right" on him. And that you can do only if you guys are in a stage to do so. I suggest... pick the darn phone and make a call. Speak it out :=)
